Music: Renegade by Styx
A suggestion from a friend and my love of Sci-fi and Fantasy have driven me to begin this blog. Though this will also help when it comes to keeping my personal blog from being so jumbled, that's just a plus. I would like this blog to be easily accessible to people who love the two topics as well as those who only vaguely understand them but would like to learn more of what these things have to offer.
Sci-fi and Fantasy, when done right, can offer the world many things. Some of the earliest known works were done by Aldous Huxley, H.G. Wells, and George Orwell. When looking at these earlier works it is easy to tell that the authors were using words to hold a mirror to society. To turn the tables and offer another look at what was happening.
As time went on Sci-fi and Fantasy has expanded to include things such as Steampunk and Horror. The four combined can take what the earlier artists were trying to master another step further.
Now we have a mix of things that are written as pure crack and entertainment as well as those that still hold up the mirror to society. As the old artists begin to shake, new ones emerge and offer to carry the burdens for them. Sci-fi and Fantasy offer a new way to show people what is happening around them. It provides people with another way to say what they want.
Therefore, enjoy life and remember the important things artist are trying to tell you. They aren't just writing the words or making the movies for the hell of it. ;)
